Privacy notice

How information is handled when you visit dcspotter.com, join the briefing waitlist or contact us. Updated 15 October 2026.

Who is responsible

Kamer Özkan, trading as DC Spotter, Elefantengasse 19, 60313 Frankfurt am Main, Germany. Contact: [email protected]. See the Impressum.

Visiting the website

The site is hosted and delivered by Cloudflare. Each request involves technical data such as your IP address, the requested page, time, browser information and referring page. This is used to deliver pages, keep the service available and protect it from abuse, based on our legitimate interest in operating a secure website (Article 6(1)(f) GDPR). Fonts, styles and the map software are served from our own domain.

Maps

Map pages load map tiles from OpenFreeMap, based on OpenStreetMap data. Your browser contacts OpenFreeMap directly to load them, which discloses your IP address and browser information to that service. See openfreemap.org.

The briefing waitlist

If you join the waitlist we store your email address and, if you provide them, your name, company, role and topics of interest, together with the sign-up time and a one-way hashed network identifier used only to block automated sign-ups. We use this to send you the DC Spotter briefing and information about it. The basis is your consent (Article 6(1)(a) GDPR), which you can withdraw at any time with the unsubscribe link in every email or by emailing [email protected]; we then delete your details.

After you sign up we send one email asking you to confirm the address (double opt-in). Only confirmed addresses receive the briefing. If you do not confirm, we delete the address 30 days after the last confirmation email.

The data is stored in a Cloudflare database. When someone joins, a notification with the details entered is sent to our team through Telegram. We keep waitlist data until you unsubscribe or until we stop the briefing.

How we send email

Our emails are sent through Brevo, a service of Sendinblue SAS, Paris, France, which processes your email address, name and delivery data on our behalf under a data processing agreement. Brevo records whether an email was delivered or bounced; it also counts opens and link clicks, which we have set to be recorded anonymously, without linking them to you. Links in our emails may pass through a Brevo address before reaching our site.

When you email us

We process your email address, message and attachments to answer your enquiry (Article 6(1)(b) or (f) GDPR) and keep them as long as needed for the matter.

Cookies and analytics

Our own code sets no advertising or analytics cookies and runs no tracking scripts. Cloudflare may use strictly necessary security measures.

International processing

Cloudflare, OpenFreeMap, Telegram and Brevo may process data outside the European Economic Area under their own transfer safeguards, described in their privacy notices.

Your rights

You can request access, correction, deletion, restriction or portability of your data and object to processing based on legitimate interests. Write to [email protected]. You can also complain to a data protection authority, for example the Hessian Commissioner for Data Protection and Freedom of Information.

Published research

Project records refer to publicly available documents about companies and projects. If a record contains information about you that needs correction, contact us.
